Former Alliance worker Don Fairly received a walking stick from a village chief as a symbol of honor and trust for Don’s pledge to return to Gabon. It was the height of the Great Depression, and the sum needed to return to Africa seemed unattainable. But God enabled His servant to keep his promise to the people who wanted to hear more about Jesus.

His passionate belief that prayer undergirds all ministry compelled Alliance founder A. B. Simpson to create a prayer league that would focus on the world’s evangelization. He believed that this Prayer Alliance would prove to be the “mightiest force in the spread of missions.” That force still drives The Alliance today. Prayer is the primary work of God’s people.
