Prayer Letter/Ministry Update
March 23, 2004
Greetings from the city of Cali, a city of close to 3 million people. I work on a team with several other Americans and our Colombian pastor and his wife in the western part of the city. This area is truly beautiful as it is residencial, near the outskirts of the city, and located along the Cali River which is shaded by many trees. It is common to see beautiful birds of many brillant colors flying from branch to branch. We are some 3,000 ft. up in the eastern range of the Andes, and although the average temperature is 75 degrees during the day the temperature can go up into the low 90s. In the afternoons a strong cool breeze blows over the area, and the evenings are absolutely delightful.
This residencial area was composed of many lovely big homes but today many of those homes have been torn down and in their place are big apartment buildings. This is the more upper class area yet it is located not far from the center of the city.
Doug and Naomi Ord moved into this area in July of 2000 and began a prayer group and Bible study in their apartment. A year later Dave and Shirley Overmoyer and I arrived to help out. In 2002 we began renting one of the big specious Cali houses which is across the street from the Cali river. We inaugurated the house with almost 40 people. Along with our meetings on the weekends, we hold seminars on different themes which are of interest to the community.
This past month we have had a series of lectures on how to enrich your marriage. We have had up to 50 in atendance. Our pastor Joaquin (Ho-ah-keen) has given this very interesting course, emphasizing that when we obey God and give our lives to Him, He will bring restauration and love to our lives and our marriage.
The name we have given to the house where we meet is THE ENCOUNTER. Our prayer is that many will come to a true encounter with Jesus Christ who gave His life to transform ours.

Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer
During the month of April is Holy Week. We plan to have a special service on good Friday, and then a sunrise service, breakfast and the main service at 10:00 on Easter Sunday morning.
April 23rd through 25th we plan to have a seminar on how to encounter PEACE in the midst of a stressful world. Our prayer is that many will come to know the PEACE that Christ can give when we give our hearts and lives to Him. We also plan to have a mens breakfast on Saturday morning.
During this month we also plan to have prayer groups meeting in homes on Wednesday nights.
I am teaching a number of classes for new people on how to understand the Bible, and how to know God.
I would appreciate your prayers for the people of West Cali that they may come to know God in a new, personal way, and that this encounter with Him may transform their lives and give them great peace, joy, and love.

Pray.
The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.
