Mark and Pattie Brinkman
Prayer Letter/Ministry Update
The Brinkmans
November 2009
Thank you for praying for the Protestant weekend at the beginning of November here in Strasbourg. It was the first time Lutherans, Reformed, and Evangelical Protestants have gathered together in French memory. Approximately 15,000 people came to enjoy seminars, worship services and other activities. This “minority” event was covered by French secular media in unprecedented and positive ways, and French believers feel that good connections were made between individuals as well as organizations.
You have been praying with us for good connections with both church members and people in the wider community, and those have been happening. Especially during the times that Mark is home for short breaks, we have been getting to know people from the church and the international community. Possibilities are emerging for book clubs, running clubs, expat groups, school activities…more than we can do ourselves. We’ve enjoyed beginning friendships and pray that God will use us to help these various individuals and families to draw closer to Him from whatever point they are starting.
The church continues with our interim pastors and in fact just welcomed the final couple; they will be here until mid-December. Pray for this time to be fruitful and wisdom-bringing; people are talking about good ideas for ministry with women, youth, children, worship…but are holding off a bit on many of them until other needed conversations first happen after Mark moves in on the 19th of December. It’s hard to wait, in some ways! We are looking forward to these good dialogues about what the church is and what it could be – and to seeing new things happen. Pray, too, for the things are continue even now: home groups, prayer meeting, Sunday school, full church Council meetings, worship and day-to-day details.
The France field will be holding significant meetings for a week at the end of this month to discuss current ministries and vision. Pray for us all to be willing to dream and speak, listen and act – and for someone to stay for our boys while we’re gone.
Grateful for your partnership,
Mark and Pattie

Pray.
The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.
Give.
You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.
Serve.
Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to experience missions firsthand by participating in a short-term missions trip? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
