" 3 Ventanas: Looking into the lives of Moroccan immigrants to Spain"
__________
Dear Praying Friends,
Here’s a glimpse at some of the various backgrounds, lives and ministry opportunities that we’ve encountered since coming to the Barcelona area. We hope that you catch a vision not only of these 3 men, but of the harvest field that surrounds us! Would you join us in the reaping?
__________
Ventana 1:
I met M through a Christian friend of mine. M is in his early forties, single, illegal, unemployed, and homeless. But M has a desire to know more about the Christian faith. We agreed to meet. A few days later, M looked miserable. While he was sleeping on a city bench, someone stole his bag which contained his passport, some money and a few personal items. At this hopeless point, my friend and I told him that he needed a miracle from God. I prayed with him in Arabic and asked God to intervene. When we met M a few days later, he was different. “I found my passport!” “How?” I questioned. Apparently, a man that he did not know suggested that he go to the mosque, that his passport was there. Sure enough, there was his passport. He told me, “I have no idea how it ended up there; I just know that you prayed and God answered.” We’ve been able to provide M with an older cell phone and mobile line, and one day while M was sleeping in the forest, he helped a man who later offered M a shed to sleep in. Craig and I have helped him paint, build a frame for his bed (out of our shipping crate!), and helped with food and water. Continue to pray for M as we study the Bible together. He is very intelligent and well-educated making our times together interactive. There is a seed of faith in M, but it battles the weeds of the world in the quest for growth. Please pray for him!

Ventana 2:
I met (another) M through a Spanish friend who called and said, “I want to introduce you to this guy who is interested in knowing more about Christ.” I drove about 30 minutes to meet with him. He is married and legal, but illiterate. He cannot read or write Spanish nor Arabic. However, he has a steady job and lives in an apartment in a decent suburb of Barcelona. I met with him at a café and spent about an hour explaining the message of the Gospel to him. His comment was, “This is good! I have never heard this before!” I asked him if he would like to regularly study the Bible together, and he was positive about it. I promised him to return with Joanna to meet his wife and to possibly start studying both the Bible and some basics of Spanish. Pray for follow-through as we meet together, and for the wife’s interest as well.

Ventana 3:
I met Y when Joanna and I went to the City Hall to register. He has been in Spain for 7 years and is living with a Spaniard. He has a good job, lives in an apartment, and is very well-educated in both Spanish and Catalan. He has been employed by the City Hall to help with translation and other matters that the immigrants face. I believe that it is not coincidence that when our turn came to register, Y was the one helping us. We exchanged phone numbers and later met with him and his wife. He is of great insight into the community where we live and the needs of the North Africans. Y is also well aware of the various cultural activities that the city hosts. Both Y and his wife are fairly secular and most likely, nominal in faith. Please pray for them as the Lord opens doors to share Christ with them.

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.
