Chinh Dang and Mary Tran

Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

Dear family and friends,

We’ve experienced a very long and hot season in Taiwan. The inside temperature easily reaches 32 °C (approx 94 °F) plus humidity. One friend came here on a mission trip told us, of all the countries he has been to, Taiwan is considered as the hottest. There were occasions we drove a van without air-conditioning for long-distance trips. The heat was killing. One time in bumper-to-bumper traffic – moved less than 3 km in 50 min. Chinh thought he would have nightmare after that.

We have a wish – we want to buy a Wish (A Toyota’s vehicle model). We temporarily discontinued writing last month’s newsletter in order to concentrate on vehicle’s fundraising. Families, friends, and churches have generously responded. Thank-you. We’ll keep you up to date.

Caleb has had wonderful time at kindergarten. He twice used Mandarin to say grace for family’s breakfast. 3 days a week he brings homework home. The kindergarten doesn’t free little kids. It’d definitely enjoyable to hear Caleb and Tabby speak these days. Caleb, “Mammy, la (Vietnamese for “yell”) Caleb me.” Tabby, “Uông sua” (Vietnamese for “drink milk” with incorrect tones. When they watch movies and repeatedly ask, “What happens?” “What’s that?” We could answer the first few times. After that, we wish they would stop asking. Furthermore, as they play with each other, they frequently get into quarrel. A matter is spurred 5 to 10 min. We play judges to solve issues. Oh, it’s tiring….sometime. We wish that they would get tired from playing and REST. When they REST, then we REST.

Did we say, “REST?” We’re so far away from that term for now. Mary is pregnant again. We have so many things on the plate now. We are being stretched in many ways. We have no other choice but depend on God’s grace. Yes, we wish for God’s extra grace.

One of the wonderful memories of attending worship is fellowship meal. At one church we attend, when the pastor preaches, we could hear the noise and smell the flavor of cooking. To be honest, sometime it’s hard to listen to the sermon…

Currently there’re four Vietnamese brides we’ve frequently followed up. They’re come from different paths of life. One lady likes us to spend more time with her. On Mid-Autumn Festival she talked to Mary, “Ngọc hả, có ?i ?âu ch?i không? Em tới chở chị ?i ch?i nghe?” “Mary, are you going out today? I’m going to pick you up, ok?” Praise God that she already put her faith in Jesus. We wish to lead her to church to build a stable Christian foundation.

One government’s source says that 69,464 Vietnamese workers and care-givers in Taiwan (Besides 900 Vietnamese international students and 78,000 Vietnamese brides). Seeing their needs for Christ, we’re burdened to seek an effective way to evangelize and train them in God’s way. These days we’ve put plans together and propose leaders for their support. We pray for God’s leading. God willing, we will ask leaders and our CMA people in North American as well as Vietnam to stand together for this joint ministry.
Life isn’t easy as we wish. From time to time you run into situations like we do. As God’s children, we can always wish God will help carry our loads. Our Lord Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30). Keep the faith.

Blessings,

Chính, Mary, Caleb, Tabb

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.
