We’re Moving

We have found a house to move to! We have sensed God’s leading and we are moving to a poor neighborhood of our city, Saint Louis, Senegal. This neighborhood is called Pikine.

We are impressed with God’s heart for the lost and the marginalized (take a look at the book of Luke), and since Pikine has been prone to flooding in rainy season and is a place of poverty we too have a heart for the people of Pikine. With lower levels of education it is a place where fewer people speak French and more speak Wolof, which should help us as we learn the Wolof language. In addition, Pikine is the neighborhood where a ministry called Yoonu Njub, The Way of Righteousness, ministers. This ministry is led by a Wolof pastor and his wife and we are blessed to learn from them. As commited believers who grew up in Muslim homes they have been instrumental in opening doors of opportunities for us, in helping us learn culture, and in gaining a vision of what the future Wolof Church in Senegal may look like. This move will help us connect better with this ministry and the people to whom it ministers.

Before we move we will have some work done on the house (install a water reservoir tank, tile floors, install windows with screens, etc). Although we often appreciate the slower pace of life here in Africa, we pray these renovations will be completed quickly to give us time to get settled in before going to Dakar in December where we will be delivering our baby. If you would like to help us with the extra expenses of this move you may use the link to the right to contribute to our Work Fund. Thank you for your prayers and support.

Serving our King together,
Brian, Michelle, Jacob, Jonathan, Karis, & baby

Prayer & Praise

PRAISE GOD
... for a wonderful time of vacation in the US this summer.
... for His provision of a house for us to move to.
... for the Wolof pastor and his wife who faithfully follow Christ and have a heart for their people as they live and minister in Saint Louis, Senegal.

PLEASE PRAY
... for Michelle’s Nana. Although Nana is still hospitalized at Columbia Pres. in NYC, she seems to be improving. With multiple drains the infection in her abdomen is decreasing.
... for the renovations and move to be completed quickly.
... for continued health for our family during the rain (and malaria) season, July-Oct, particularly for Michelle and the baby in pregnancy. Due date: Jan 6.
... for significant increases in our ability to speak the Wolof language this month.
... for the Wolof people, who along with most Muslims around the world, are fasting during the month-long Ramadan to earn favor in the eyes of God.

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.

Serve.

Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to experience missions firsthand by participating in a short-term missions trip? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
