Update and Prayer Points

  • I've had a few inquiries as to how we fared during the typhoon this past weekend that made international headlines. In the areas where we and other Alliance workers live flooding was minimal and everyone is safe. Morakot seemed no worse than any other moderate typhoon, and now you can hardly tell there was a storm at all, except by looking at the dead crops in many fields.
  • Southern Taiwan, however, did not fare so well. The Alliance web page shares the following update. Here's a local newspaper story local newspaper story about the tragic death of a politician in my area (Google "Morakot" and you will find dozens of other links). And here's a short blog entry I wrote before the rains abated.
  • To summarize, please pray for those who are suffering and for those who lost their homes and families. Please pray for farmers as this is the second highest crop loss total ever for the island as a whole during a typhoon.
  • Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer

Today marks the birthday celebration of the god of the local temple in the chinese lunar calendar. Families will be hosting dinners all over town and the atmosphere will be heavy in celebration. Please pray that later this year many would come to celebrate the birth of the King of kings and that the God above all gods would be given all the glory.

    Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

    Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.

    Serve.

Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to experience missions firsthand by participating in a short-term missions trip? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
