It Is Possible!!
Two weeks ago, a group of nine people from Alliance Christian Fellowship (ACF), pictured above, in Eagle River, Alaska came to help us host our annual Winter English Camp. The camp’s theme was on the seasons talking about not only the seasons of the year, but also seasons in our life when we have experienced death, birth/new life, adolescence and adulthood. We asked one of the members from ACF to share about that time in her life when she experienced death, new life, youth and maturity as an adult. During one session after sharing to the group of almost 40 students about her previous mistakes, addictions and God’s redemption, she opened it up for questions. The students were so enthralled with what she had to say, that hands went up like popcorn!
One girl, Sasha, raised her hand. After being called upon, Sasha simply said this “After hearing your story of all the pain and hurt in your past, and then to see how much joy you have today, we now know that it is possible to come from that and live a new life!”
Wow.
That was the first of many comments, questions and wrestling with God that happened in the 48 hours of camp. God moved, and it was quite evident.
At the end of camp, as we were packing up one girl, who had been wrestling with many spiritual questions the whole weekend, came up to the pastor of ACF. She said “I never knew Christianity was like this. I thought you had to memorize the whole Bible, always sing songs, and always be defensive. But you, you are different. you’ve given me a lot to think about.”
This, my friends, is why we are here. to bring the Good News and show them what a God who loves them is like! Please rejoice with us!!
Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer
Praise: Winter English Camp 2011 went wonderfully and we had several deep spiritual conversations!!
Praise: We made it over the biggest, largest hurdle in the registration process with Global Grounds!!
Praise: We had a wonderful Christmas with Iris’ mom, dad and younger sister!
Pray: We have been developing good relationships with students from the English Cafe. Please pray for those relationships to grow deeper so that we may share Christ with them.
Pray: Our landlord began showing our apartment to prospective buyers. While we understand why he is selling, we have no desire to move. It is incredibly time consuming and we have see the importance of living this close to our teammates. Please pray that he puts off selling our place until the end of our term.
Pray: JB will be doing a lot of traveling in February and March due to his schooling as well as working in the coffee relationships we have here and in Moscow. Please pray for safety.
Pray That God would bless us with the perfect location to get Road of Life and Global Grounds off the ground. Also, please pray that this process will go smoothly and without a hitch!

Pray.
The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—in our denomination, in our churches, and in our individual lives.
Give.
You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This central funding vehicle allows our international workers to focus on ministry rather than raising financial support.
