Dear Friends,
We want to begin this letter by thanking you so much for your prayers and faithful giving to the Great Commission Fund. Without your faithful support we could not be ministering here in the city of Guadalajara. Cathy and I continue to work at the Torre Fuerte Alliance Church of where we have been serving for the past 3 years. We are currently ministering in a 4 year old church plant in which our goal has been to turn over the church to national leadership by 2010-2011 before we furlough. We began to officially work with a potential pastoral candidate about a year ago. After ministering in the church for about 9 months, he decided that his calling was not to the Torre Fuerte Church. This was a bit disapointing for us at the time, but we are confident that God has a clear plan for the church as well as a future pastor. We would ask you to pray for God's leading in this area. We are currently in the midst of the 40 Days with a Purpose ministry at the church in which over 60 people are involved. We are also thankful that God has allowed the church to grow over the past couple of months to an average of about 65 people on Sunday mornings. On a note not related to ministry, we have witnessed a noticeable increase in drug activity in our area of the city which has caused some safety concerns for our family. It appears that Guadalajara is in the middle of a turf battle between two large cartels. Thanks for praying for our safety. This coming April I will be making a trip to the southern state of Chiapas with Steve Zopfi to minister to some of our national pastors in that region. We would appreciate your prayers for effective ministry and safety. Finally, our family will be traveling in the month of June for our home assignment. Steve and Debbie Zopfi will take over as the lead couple at the church and we would ask you pray for them and a smooth transition at the church. We would ask that you join us in prayer for the following needs:

May God bless,
The Howards

Queridos hermanos,

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—in our denomination, in our churches, and in our individual lives.

Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This central funding vehicle allows our international workers to focus on ministry rather than raising financial support.

Serve.

Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to participate in a short-term missions trip and experience missions work firsthand? We’re here to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
