Martin and Judy Johns
Prayer Letter/Ministry Update
January/February 2008
It is hard to believe that it is already 2008. We arrived back in the States on Mother’s Day 2007 after four years of serving in Cambodia with NewHope Ministries. Our four years, 2003-2007, in Cambodia had a number of joys and praises as well as difficulties and tears. It is a testimony to God’s goodness and faithfulness that we completed our first term of missionary service.
From those early days of language study which for Martin lasted three years (one year of Khmer and two years of Vietnamese) to those times of ministry (Judy served as the missionary coordinator for 5 NewHope schools with approximately 450 students for three years while Martin served as a church advisor at two churches for a year and a half), God gave us strength, wisdom and His abiding presence.
Since we have returned to the States specifically Washington, we have had the blessing and privilege of traveling throughout Washington and parts of Oregon speaking about God’s work among the Vietnamese in Cambodia. It has been such an encouragement for us to meet our brothers and sisters in the C&MA family who have faithfully prayed for missions and given to the Great Commission Fund.
God has been gracious in blessing us with the repeated experience of walking into a church and after a few minutes feeling like we are among family and friends. We could never have imagined that traveling to places we have never been and speaking with people we do not know would seem like going home. God is truly good and knows what His children need.
As for Colette & Giselle, they have had a great time seeing grandma & grandpa, aunts & uncles and cousins. They have also done incredibly well traveling with Mom & Dad as we speak at various churches. As soon as we arrive at the church, they locate the toddler room and make themselves at home. Colette is now 5 years old and is attending a Pre-Kindergarten class four days a week. She loves learning and coloring. Giselle is 2 years and 8 months old and loves reading and playing. She also loves to talk and is rarely bashful. We thank God that our kids are adjusting so well.
At this time, our plan is to return to Cambodia and NewHope Ministries at the end of June 2008.
We also praise God for every one of you who has prayed for us. Your prayers have truly made a difference in our lives and in the lives of the Vietnamese. Thank you…
We also want to thank all of you who have graciously given to the Great Commission Fund (GCF) through which we and our missionary colleagues are all supported.
Upon our return, we will still be in need of purchasing a car. Please prayerfully consider giving to our vehicle fund. Please make your checks out to the C&MA and write on the memo section of your check 64523 Vehicle Fund for Martin & Judy Johns. Please send all checks to the following:

Your donations are tax deductible and are greatly appreciated.
In Christ Jesus,
Martin, Judy, Colette & Giselle
Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer
Please continue to keep us in prayer concerning the following:
* that God will use us to be a blessing to all the churches where we speak.?
* that those who hear our presentation about NewHope Ministries will be encouraged to pray for, give to and be more involved in C&MA missions.
* that God will give us and our field leadership wisdom as we work out the details involved in our returning to Cambodia.
* that the local Vietnamese church leaders will have wisdom and discernment as they lead the church in the absence of missionary involvement (after we left, a number of our colleagues have also left)
* that at all times and in every situation that Christ will be reflected in all we do.
* that God would provide the necessary funds so that we can purchase a four-wheel drive vehicle upon our return.
Thank you...

Pray.
The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.
Give.
You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.
Serve.
Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to experience missions firsthand by participating in a short-term missions trip? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
