Dear praying friend,

Because Wendy has been inundated with schooling (both kids and herself) over the past 8 months, it has fallen upon my shoulders (Steve’s) to work on the monthly newsletters. This means you may not be receiving news from us as early as you may be used to. Nevertheless, at least it’s news. The end of October and most of November will be busy months for us, so we especially covet your prayer coverage over the next several weeks.

We are continually amazed that the Lord is willing to work through us. We see Him ordering the events of our lives and the lives of those around us. For example, when the purchase of the home in Tzhinval was delayed for a week, the short-term team was also delayed for a week. Because of this, several more people were able to join the team, and the national church was able to raise an additional 33,000 rubles to help with the repairs (about $1,100). As a result, the delayed trip was much more fruitful than the one originally planned.

In another example, we have been praying that the Lord would expand the Natural Church Development ministry here in southern Russia. Another teammate went through the training less than a month ago, so we are in a better position to expand the ministry. While this team-mate was away I (Steve) made a road-trip with a national church leader to a neighboring state. As a result of the road-trip, we have been asked to come to their district conference in late November to present the NCD materials. The door is opening as at least one church already wants to go through the process! While our ministry is not directly tied to one church-plant, we see the Lord orchestrating events so that we are able to meet various needs at just the right time.

We are grateful for the part you play in our ministry as you pray for us. As you pray, you partner with the God of the universe to expand His kingdom in southern Russia through us and others. And as you continue to support us and the work of the C&MA financially through the Great Commission Fund, you are helping to provide the materials used by the God of the universe to spread the Good News of His Salvation in southern Russia. Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer

Praises

• The short-term team was able to make many repairs on the pastor’s home/church building which was purchased in Tzhinval.

• The new teacher who has arrived to help us and another family with homeschooling has transitioned well into her responsibilities.

• Wendy finished the final course for her master’s degree in TESOL.

Prayer Requests

• Pray for Steve as he preaches on the role of love & spiritual gifting in Krimsk (Oct. 25). Krimsk is one of the churches going through the Natural Church Development (NCD) process.

• Pray for Wendy as she attends a seminar Oct. 29-31 (all in Russian) in an effort to encourage several pastors’ wives in our district to receive women’s leadership training.

• Pray for our field retreat (Oct 31. to Nov 5) to be held at a coastal town about three hours away. Pray that we and our colleagues will be refreshed and renewed physically and spiritually to continue to serve the Lord in the land he has called us to.

• Pray for Wendy, who is scheduled to take her comprehensive exams on the 7th and 14th of November. This will then conclude the work for her degree.

• Keep praying for God’s direction in terms of ministry opportunities for Wendy. We look forward to sharing with you how God is answering in this area.

• The organization of another short-term team into Tzhinval to finish repairs on the pastor’s house/church building before winter sets in.
