Dear Family and Friends,

We trust you had a wonderful Christmas celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior.

Meredith was able to come to Quito during her Christmas vacation from college. We had a great time together as a family. She returned to Grove City on January 15. Meredith loves her major, elementary education. We are so thankful for grandparents and friends who watch out for her while she is in Grove City.

Micah had surgery on January 6 to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The tear happened during a soccer game last season. He has been in a sling since the surgery and has to continue using the sling for another week. Rehabilitation is going to take a minimum of three months. This means that he is going to miss his soccer season; not easy for a senior in high school who loves soccer with a passion. Please pray for him as he deals with being on the sidelines during soccer season.

Merriel has been experiencing severe headaches for the past six weeks. She has had no relief from these headaches. Merriel has been unable to sleep well because of the pain. We have been to two neurologists trying to figure out the cause of the pain. Neither one has been able to pinpoint the cause. She is currently taking medication for the pain and to help her sleep. Unfortunately the medication does not seem to be working. Please pray with us that the headaches will stop. It is hard for us to see our daughter go from a fun-loving girl to someone who is quite subdued because of constantly dealing with pain.

Mathias turned twelve years old today. It is hard to believe that our “baby” is already twelve. Mathias loves life and is always involved in some sort of project. We wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes an engineer some day.

Guy and Denise continue with their responsibilities in the regional office. This past month has been quite hectic with all the doctors’ visits for Micah and Merriel. Thank you for your prayers; they are what keep us going during times like this.

Thank you so much for supporting us as we minister here in Ecuador. Thank you for your financial support. During these difficult economic times we know it is hard to give. Thank you so much for giving to the Great Commission Fund from which we receive our support.

Abiding in His grace,

Guy, Denise, Meredith, Micah, Merriel, and Mathias Maurin

Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer

Please pray for Micah as he recovers from shoulder surgery. He will miss his soccer season this year. This will not be easy for him especially since he is a senior.

Please pray for relief from the severe headaches Merriel has been experiencing the past six weeks; the pain has been constant. Two different neurologists have been unable to determine the cause of her headaches.

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—in our denomination, in our churches, and in our individual lives.

Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This central funding vehicle allows our international workers to focus on ministry rather than raising financial support.

Serve.

Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to participate in a short-term missions trip and experience missions work firsthand? We’re here to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
