AUGUST 2009 Update
Thank you so much for praying for me this past month while I was travelling and having all kinds of new experiences, to say the least! Honestly, I was beginning to feel suffocated (the best word I can come up with to describe it) after four months of intense language study. This past month, it’s as if I’ve been able to come up for air and remember how wonderful it is to breathe again! It was an amazing month in so many ways, of which I want to share some of the highlights with you.
I had no idea what to expect when I was invited to go to Hmong villages with Debbie on a survey trip for a medical team coming soon. We joined Saytip and Ja, two amazing Hmong women of the Lord who quickly became like big sisters to me. They have been ministering among these seven Hmong villages. They are basically itinerant evangelists/ministers among their own people group. The Hmong are a very lovable people, and it was fascinating to see just a different way of life. Even though none of the villages knew we were coming (no cell phones in the villages), the believers welcomed us with open arms, hospitality, and with the love of Christ. In one of the villages, the pastor told us that a few days earlier, he had a dream that a team was coming, and mine was the face he saw. (Who needs cell phones?)
Many of you are on my newsletter list because I came to your church within the past 3 years to speak for Remember Nhu. While my heart was already with the house parents and children in the Thailand homes, the first time I met them was this past month! I absolutely loved living at one of the homes (pictured) and spending time with both homes for the week! The Garden of Eden is rightfully named, as it is such a fruitful and beautiful land! It still baffles me how the simple provision of love and safety can transform a child! God is so loving!
I had no idea what to expect for Field Forum (once a year all the C&MA Thailand workers come together for retreat). It was so encouraging to meet all the workers and get to know their families. I also realized how hungry for live worship and teaching in my own language that I had been. It was like drinking crisp, cold water in a desert! I couldn’t describe how much of a well-needed blessing this week was for all the workers… thank you for giving to the GCF so the workers can have a Forum retreat every year!
I just returned today from Northeast Thailand where I spent a week at the Grace Ministries girl’s home. While the girls were at school, I had much needed time of re-centering my life in Christ. And when the girls were home, I had plenty of time to listen and speak Thai! I really do notice improvement in being able to understand more Thai. Thank you for praying for me. This past month has been incredible in every way, and I feel ready to launch into module 5 this week!
Please pray!
Remember Nhu- for the 3 children's homes and developments regarding opening another salon or job training center soon.
Language! I am in a module of reading and writing Thai, which can be overwhelming at times because it's so different and there are so many 'exceptions to rules' to memorize.
I need to find a fellowship group in English. Please pray that God would provide the perfect place for me to have friends and relationships.

Pray.
The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.
