Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

Sept. 19, 2008

Dear Praying friends,

After a literally stormy summer (touched by each of the hurricanes that hit the USA while they were still Tropical Storms), we are now back on track with our activities at the Encounter Cell Church.

Each of the cells holds a Prayer Cell at the end of each series of Bible Studies. The cell I participate in had 13 attend including 2 couples for whom the group has been praying and inviting for some time. Their reaction was positive and we trust they will return and soon find the Lord as their personal savior.

Classes have started in the Bible Institute that meets in 2 widely separated Alliance Churches in Santo Domingo. I have 10 students in my class on Paul’s Letters. There are 6 returning students and 4 new ones. They are together because we use a rotating curriculum rather than levels and meet only one night a week with a maximum of 2 classes.

The classes on Christian Education and Paul’s Letters that are being taught at the primary Institute site are struggling with a lack of students. Pray that the problem can be identified and that a good group of new students with a call to serve the Lord, can be enrolled.

There is a strong desire on the part of the new Director of the Bible Institute and the Institute committee to strengthen the program and add more classes so that students can finish sooner and be better prepared. Please pray with us for the wisdom to bring this about.

Prayer changes things. Thank you for your on going prayer support.

Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer

Praise:

1. That new people are attending the Cell groups of the Encounter Cell Church and finding the Lord.

2. For Suleiky, my first Dominican disciple, who is now teaching and writing Bible Studies for the cells.

Pray:

1. For students studying in the Bible Institute. There are 10 in my class on Paul’s Letters. Time is limited to an overview of each Letter. Pray that they will get a "taste" that will make them want to dig deeper and make the study of God’s Word a passion in their lives.

2. That cell leaders will actively disciple the people in their cells and prepare them for multiplication.

3. For the Lord’s direction for Juan Alejandro, the new director of the Bible Institute as he takes the steps necessary to strengthen the program and recruit new students.

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.

Serve.

Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to experience missions firsthand by participating in a short-term missions trip? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
