Donald and Rachel Schaeffer

Team Schaeffer Newsletter June 2019

こんにちは!Greetings from Colorado!
We have had a whirlwind of travel, but for the next three weeks we will remain in Colorado for training, at a center called Missionary Training International. We are here with 38 adults being sent out across the world with a variety of mission agencies. Prior to CO, we visited Don's grandma and relatives in Cleveland, Ohio, celebrated Rachel's brother Lucas' graduation in Maryland, and then spent the first weekend in June in Orlando, FL for the Christian and Missionary Alliance General Council. We were challenged and encouraged. Rachel and I are thankful for family and friends who were able to be with us and pray over our family as we were commissioned on Sunday, June 2.

Since coming to CO on June 3, we jumped right into our training. Our class time goes from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday. The boys are cared for in a class and are learning similar content to us adults. This past week we learned principles of language learning such as phonetics and quickly applied those principles as we learned Albanian (Don) and French (Rachel).

We have been challenged in the midst of our transition and have found that those we are in class with are also experiencing similar emotions and thoughts. A quote that stood out to us this week was, "Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God." ~Corrie Ten Boom. We are thankful for time to process our departure from our home in Wisconsin to our future service in Japan.

How to Pray June 2019

What's coming up for the Schaeffers?
Missionary Training ends Saturday, June 29
Maryland June 30-July 14
CO Springs for Pre-field Orientation July 15-19
Maryland July 20-August 4
We depart for Japan on August 5
Prayer Points:
It is no exaggeration to say that we are tired. Pray for stamina as we continue to learn in CO.
Donald is under the weather. He is dealing with a face rash and a sore throat. Pray that the Lord heals his body quickly.
We have made new friends! It is a neat time being around other believers who are walking in the same shoes we are. Praise the Lord for new friendships that have formed.
We will apply for our Japanese visa in July. Pray that it will be a quick process with no complications.

If you would like to partner with us through giving, here's one way you could do that. Currently, we are still looking for some additional support to our Outfit Fund, money we will use to set up our new home in Japan. To give, please visit: Under "Select International Worker/Special Project," please type Donald and Rachel Schaeffer and then choose Outfit. Next, type in the amount you will give. You will then be asked to create an account (if you would like to give regularly) or proceed as a guest.
Your donation is a tax-deductible gift and you will receive a receipt for your donation.
Thank you for being a part of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ in the country of Japan!

*If you did not receive a prayer card of our family, we have them available! Please give us your address and we would love to send one to you. Let us know how Rachel and I can also be praying for YOU. Thank you for being a part of our lives.
