“Our heart’s desire for ‘Cali’s upper class’ is that they may be saved” Romans 10:1

Missions full circle
Colombia has two national families and a single lady who have responded to God’s call on their lives to “go and make disciples of all nations”.
One of our missionary families has served in North Africa for six years where they use their teaching skills and their home to share the Good News of Christ. They also show Christ’s love by serving and helping those in need. Abandoned and sick children in a local hospital receive love and care and a group of incapacitated men have the chance to play sports.
Because of the country’s restrictions, the groups that meet to learn about the Good News have to remain small and because of God’s faithfulness their group needs to split into two “congregations”. The husband is mentoring the one that will lead the second group. Pray that this national will grow in wisdom and leadership skills.

On July 12 we had our first missions Sunday in our new church with the opportunity to use our world flags. We had more than enough flags for the house where we used to meet but now need more for this location. Despite being vacation time, there were 106 in attendance and we thank God for the response of our people and for their generosity to this family.

We have no idea what it is like to minister in the countries where the political situation makes sharing God’s love difficult. These dear people need Christ but the fear of religious and family traditions is very strong. Only God can break down these barriers so more will come to know His forgiveness and love. May we be moved to pray more for these people and those who work among them to share the Truth.

Leadership Retreat
The Cali West Church is moving forward in its development but the big “piece of the puzzle” that is still needed is in the area of leadership. The pastoral team has set September 19th as the date for our very first Leadership Retreat. We have begun to pray for this time and are focusing first on seeking God about who should be invited. Please pray for this vital ministry area. Part of our planning for the retreat will also be to develop a follow-up program to continue building into our leaders so they can take this church forward in reaching Cali West for Christ.

Prayer Requests
1. Pray for the family working in North Africa during their three months in their home country. They will be visiting churches and sharing what God is doing through their ministries. Pray for their three children as they adapt to a new place with different customs.

2. Pray for the North African man who is being prepared to lead a group of followers. He will need courage and wisdom to fulfill this ministry.

3. There are several couples who are struggling with marriage issues. Pray that both sides will be able to see their role in making the necessary changes for stability and growth.

4. Pray also for several wives who attend but their husbands either aren’t interested or haven’t made a commitment to Christ yet.

5. Continue to pray for the finances of the church. The traditional background doesn’t make it easy for the people to understand the importance of tithing.

6. Join us in prayer for a new outpouring of the the Holy Spirit in the Cali West Church. This is the basic need of our people, to make Christ the center of their lives and then to organize their lives around Him.

Thank you for your faithful giving to the Great Commission Fund. In these days of economic stress, we dare not forget our call to reach the lost. Thank you for partnering with me to see the Cali West Church mature in Christ.

In His service and yours,
Lorene
Solid on His promises

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.

Serve.

Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to experience missions firsthand by participating in a short-term missions trip? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
