Erik and Christina Wahlen

Prayer Letter/Ministry Update

photo

So many of you are praying for us as we study the Mongolian language and culture - thank you so much. It is by far the hardest thing we have ever done.
Even though language study accounts for most of our lives right now, Erik has had the opportunity to begin discipling two young men. We introduced you to Zoloo and his family last month and hope to introduce you to Unru soon.
Things are progressing well with the registration of the international church. Attenders were given membership application materials three weeks ago and there is an excitement at church.
The student church’s numbers are still pretty small, but it’s been great to see it completely taken over by our young Mongolian leaders, Zoloo and Onon. We hope to continue to come alongside them as they seek to reach their peers and young Mongolian families.
All around the world Alliance workers have been asked to complete a Personal Growth and Development Plan. This yearly process is done to evaluate your goals from last year, look at where you are at now and pray about what God would have you do this next year. This is very key as next month, our field leadership team will be meeting to discuss placements for Erik and I for next year. Please be in prayer with us for where God would have us join Him in His work next year. There are no shortages of opportunities or needs here, but we really desire to be where God wants us to be. We anticipate great things this next year. Thank you for praying to this end with us!

Prayer Requests

This month please join with us in praying for Onon. If you haven’t seen it yet, please take a few minutes to watch her tell her testimony on our video page. Onon is the manager of our student center here in UB. She is passionate about Jesus and for students to come to know Him. We are so thankful for her and her heart for Jesus! If you haven’t seen her video on our site yet, click on the video tab above.

Please pray with us for:
Onon as she manages our student center here in UB
for wisdom as she continues to seek God’s leading in
her life
for the relationships she is able to make through the
center
for a vibrant walk with Jesus
for spiritual protection as she ministers in UB

-the renewal of Dr. Pham’s clinic’s license
God’s provision for our field as our budget has been reduced drastically and there isn’t much left for actual ministry on the field
-continued good health for our family and spiritual protection. Swine flu has hit Mongolia.
-opportunities to build relationships with Mongolians and other foreigners we meet who don’t know Jesus. Please pray specifically this month for our relationships with our Mongolian team members.
-God’s heart and an understanding for the Mongolian people and their culture
-endurance in language learning and continued trust in the One who has called us here

Praise God with us for:
-the families we’ve been able to begin relationships with from Jack’s school
-all of the students that are using our student center. A few weeks ago, there were close to 50 students there on a Friday night!
-our new language school. We miss our old teachers and seeing our friends, but we are very glad that we switched.
-His faithfulness to us and His grace
-our babysitter, Dandig. Also praise Him that Dandig has found a welcomed place in our student church.

Pray.

The Alliance believes wholeheartedly in the power and necessity of prayer. We cannot “Live the Call Together” unless prayer is central to all we do—as a denomination, as churches, and as individuals.

Give.

You can help build Christ’s Church around the world by donating online to the Great Commission Fund. This fund finances our missionaries, allowing them to focus on ministry rather than raising their own support.

Serve.

Is God calling you to full-time service? Do you want to experience missions firsthand by participating in a short-term missions trip? We want to help you connect your passion with God’s purpose.
