Christmas Day at Bongolo Hospital

Thank you for praying for our travels to North and Central Africa over the holidays. We are grateful for safe travels, wonderful times with our Alliance team members and an opportunity to spend Christmas with Stan’s sister Deborah, who has served as a pediatrician at the Bongolo Hospital in Gabon since 1988. An added blessing was the opportunity to help Deborah with her annual toy distribution to the children in the pediatric ward on Christmas Day. What a joy to see their faces light up as they received their gift. Our prayer is that through this simple act of kindness, may they one day also find the gift of salvation.

Caleb’s Nets Goes International

While in Gabon, we had the opportunity to hand out Caleb’s Nets to all the children in the pediatric ward. The ward was overflowing with kids, the majority of whom were there with malaria. In fact, the day we arrived in Bongolo, two children died of cerebral malaria. Malaria cases and deaths this year in Gabon are above average. The nets were received with grateful hearts! Then on New Year’s Day, we distributed nets in the maternity ward. Babies cannot start taking malaria prophylaxis until they reach a certain weight. Because of this, they are at extreme risk. The majority of children that die of malaria are under age five. A treated mosquito net is the best way to prevent them from getting malaria. Thank you for your gifts to Caleb’s Nets!

A Team in North Africa

During our time in North Africa we were privileged to visit with a multicultural team with whom our teammates work at a Christian hospital. They are training national surgeons and nurses through a program which includes mentoring them in their walks with God. We are praying that the compassionate care these people give to patients will be noticed and draw people to Christ.

Caleb's Corner

One of the kids we gave toys to had broken his arm similarly to what I had done at the beginning of the school year. I was able to tell him I had broken my arm and show him how well I was doing now. We both broke our left arms. It was a lot of fun to give gifts out. In most cases, these were the only gifts they would receive this Christmas. They were so thankful!

We are extremely grateful for your prayers and support. Because of your giving in 2016, TENS OF THOUSANDS of people who never knew of Jesus’ rescuing love are now experiencing it firsthand through the outreach of the global Alliance family.

Prayer Requests/Answers to Prayer

Thank you for standing with us in 2016 with your faithful prayers, encouragement and generous financial support!

● Thank you for your prayers as we traveled. We had 8 travel days by plane and by road through 6 countries. It was wonderful to meet with the Alliance teams and a blessing to spend Christmas with Stan’s sister.

● This month, Jaynee will be working through a dry consolidation run with the Africa Region books as a practice for our year end close. Pray that the work will go well and we will learn what areas we still need to work on in our region.

● Thank you for giving to the Alliance year end offering! As of December 31, a total of $303,020 was received - - up 14 percent from last year!

● Praise the Lord our church found a new location to worship!

● Bernard Cissa launched a new video sharing the story of his own life. He tells how the Lord Jesus came to him when he was a sinner, without hope and a slave to the pleasures of life, and took him by the hand. Christ sanctified him and brought him to a community of believers. In the video, members from over ten churches in Dakar joined as extras for the meal. They are from different West African countries, dressed in their traditional clothing, with traditional food and drink on the table. This portrays that all nations and peoples are invited to the heavenly banquet through the sacrifice of Christ. Click here to view the video.

Thank you for your continued giving to the Great Commission Fund. Without it, International Workers wouldn't be able to take the Good News of Jesus Christ to a dying world.
