A Peaceful Place

GCF In Action

Last year, the Great Commission Sunday offering helped to reinforce the efforts of Alliance international workers in North and Central Asia, including planting house churches and the establishment of a community center in Mongolia. Because you gave, people are walking in the light of God’s love and following Christ’s example in baptism.

Altantsegtseg, called Altaa, is a hairdresser in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Richel and Melody Maraat, our colleagues from The Alliance in the Philippines, were her regular customers. They told Altaa that English classes are offered at the Grain of Wheat (GOW) Center, so she enrolled and had Christina Wahlen and Marilyn Maves as her teachers. During break, students would go down to UBean Coffeehouse and Roasterie on the first floor. Soon Altaa was not only coming to the GOW Center for the English classes but would also hang out at the coffeehouse, which she described as “a peaceful place.”

Altaa soon became friends with one of our Mongolian baristas, Ariuka. Ariuka shared the gospel with Altaa, and she became a believer in Jesus. She began to attend the Sunday fellowship and recently was baptized. We rejoice in Altaa’s new life and her desire to follow the Lord.

Team members in Darhan had been asking God to bring more men to the church in Mongolia, but still, it was a surprise for us to see Bold-bayr, a street sweeper, at the Wednesday afternoon prayer meeting. He works every day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. except for Wednesday, which is his day off. He stayed afterward for the discipleship course. We encouraged him to read God’s Word every day along with the devotional booklet “Our Daily Bread.”

The Tolgoi Good News House Church in Darhan held a Baptism Celebration Service in January, and among the six believers baptized that day were Boldbayr and his wife, Oyuntsetseg. Please pray for this couple and their four children as they continue to seek God and grow stronger in faith each day.
