The CAMA Kosovo team seeks to demonstrate Christ’s compassion through immediate relief and long-term development that transforms lives and restores communities. If you are creative, motivated and have a strong call to minister to members of the country’s majority religion, this might be the team for you.

Required Qualifications:

  • Clear conversion and call to ministry of the Gospel
  • Demonstrated spiritual maturity and service
  • A recognized degree in TEFL/TESOL [or a Certificate w/experience on a case by case basis]
  • Completion of Missions Perspectives course
  • Willingness to work in cooperation with the local team and its goals
  • A minimum Modern Language Aptitude Test (MLAT) score of 65 or higher

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of teaching experience
  • Cross cultural training and/or experience
  • Flexible and able to make a healthy adjustment to the local culture
  • Proactively develops relationships


  • Healthy, growing relationship with Christ
  • Attend and contribute to weekly team prayer meetings and other team events which include bi-monthly family mealtimes and monthly fun day/evenings
  • Maintain a good working relationship with team members
  • Attend weekly gatherings and foster relationships within the community
  • Regularly connect with the larger church through monthly prayer times
  • Teach and lesson plan for a minimum of two classes/levels three times per week in the fall and spring semesters
  • Meet monthly with potential student teachers
  • Offer an English camp once per year using this time to train interns/teachers (both foreign and domestic)
  • Help host interns and/or short-term teams
  • Contribute in areas of relational outreach, discipleship, and other ministry-related activities as arranged by the team leader
  • Communicate regularly with supporters

Timeline for Deployment:

Summer/Fall 2019 for language study.

Work and Living Environment:

Approximately 100,000 people live in the city where you would serve. It is rich in history, with a number of restaurants/coffee bars and interesting area sights and activities to enjoy. Albanians are extremely welcoming and easy to develop relationships with. Crime is quite low.

Status of Christian Witness:

Kosovo is not a creative-access country and maintains freedom of religion. However, the nation’s majority religion has become increasingly radicalized. With a small population of evangelical Christians, sensitivity in public communications, including social media, is a must. Members of the majority religion hold firmly to their traditions, but most are religiously secular and open to discussing faith issues.

Language Expectations:

Albanian is the national language. One year of formal language learning in Albanian is required with an additional year as necessary.

Health Considerations:

Some local private, pay-for-service clinics offer quality basic and emergency care. Private hospitals/clinics in the capital city, Pristina, provide quality care in nearly all specialties. Smoke allergies—a large percentage of Kosovars heat their homes with wood stoves. Additionally, though technically banned, smoking is allowed in most restaurants and coffee bars.

Expectations for Spouse:

Spousal roles vary based on the spouse’s giftings, training, and abilities, as well as the needs of the team. It is expected that both spouses will be meaningfully involved in meeting ministry objectives, depending on the nature of family roles, children, etc.

Children’s Educational Plan and Options:

Educational options in Kosovo consist of: (1) local Albanian public schools-generally inadequate for proper learning, (2) homeschooling, (3) Black Forest Academy in Germany for high-school-age children.

Compensation Package:

The successful applicant(s) will receive a full compensation package with the expectation that once appointed, efforts will be made to raise a portion of support costs through friends and family, the sending church, or other resources. Information on support costs will be made available upon application. Training and coaching in fundraising is available.

Important Clarification:

Applicants should be aware that serving in the international world often requires a higher degree of grace and flexibility. For example, overseas teams can be suddenly and unexpectedly impacted by illness, government decisions, financial realities, team changes, or other factors beyond the team’s control. The challenge for applicants is that these factors can sometimes necessitate the sudden redefining of a position, which may take place before, during, or after the application/interview process has begun or is completed.
