This is a full-time position located at the C&MA National Office in Colorado Springs. The position is under the direction of the Vice President for Development and is responsible for the development and execution of the organization’s marketing and communications strategies to communicate our unique mission and vision and promote and enhance the organization’s brand. In the performance of these duties, this position will support the overall mission of the C&MA as described below.

Candidate Profile:

We are not looking for the average Marketing and Communications leader. The C&MA is seeking a person who is deeply committed to extending the Kingdom of God and excited by the growing opportunities for leadership, strategy, engaging new and different audiences, and helping a dynamic, mission-focused organization go to the next level.

The Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Communications will be a seasoned professional with demonstrated success leading an agency or marketing and/or communications team in the nonprofit and/or corporate sectors. This person will build organizational capability by identifying skills needed and recruiting and developing staff in alignment with strategic priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Requires 4-year degree in marketing or communications
  • 9+ years of experience in a marketing or communications leadership role
  • Previous leadership experience in a Christian nonprofit organization
  • Proven ability to create and execute marketing and communication strategies towards specific desired outcomes within established budgets and timeframes
  • Ability to effectively develop and manage branded communications
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage a culturally diverse team
  • Excellent Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and Cultural Intelligence (CQ)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to speak and present in both public and private settings
  • Knowledge of ecclesiology and missiology
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally for work purposes

Responsibilities:

  • Serves on the Executive Leadership Team for Development
  • Conceives and develops efficient and intuitive marketing strategies
  • Works with executives to incorporate marketing needs into overall organizational planning and strategy; presents regular updates and information to other department heads and executives
  • Supervises the planning and development of all marketing and communications materials
  • Leads and directs marketing and communications staff by setting objectives and strategies, assigning tasks, and overseeing projects
  • Develops and oversees lead generation to engage new audiences for both communications and funding purposes
  • Establishes and implements short-range and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures for marketing and communications efforts
  • Manages the marketing and communications budgets and uses financial strategy to inform all plans
  • Monitors similar non-profit and U.S. Christian denomination activity and brainstorms potential changes or improvements in marketing strategy, products, and brand positioning
  • Represents the organization at various gatherings, business meetings and settings to promote the organization
  • Plans and coordinates public affairs, and communications efforts, including public relations and community outreach
  • Promotes and supports Development’s values and encourages collaboration across all teams

 

The C&MA is an evangelical denomination committed to planting churches both in the United States and internationally. The C&MA is committed to world missions, stressing the fullness of Christ in personal experience, building the Church, and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth. The ultimate goal of all programs, functions, and activities undertaken by the C&MA is to further the foregoing purposes and to give spiritual and organizational support to all general members of the C&MA, so that they are free to preach the gospel, to plant churches, and to hasten the return of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

  • Profess a personal belief in Jesus Christ as personal Savior; and
  • Accept and live in accordance with the C&MA Statement of Faith; and
  • Are an active member in a local evangelical Christian church; and
  • Accept and abide by the Policy on Alcohol and Marijuana Use; and
  • Accept and abide by the Statement on Sexuality
