The Marketing and Communications Specialist is under the direction of the director for Brand Strategy and Visual Communications and is responsible for managing and overseeing all print-buying, invoicing, and vendor relationships, and assists with the creation of outbound branded communications. In the performance of his/her responsibilities, this position supports the overall mission of The Christian and Missionary Alliance (the C&MA) as described below.

The mission of The Christian and Missionary Alliance (the C&MA) is to know Jesus Christ; exalt Him as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King; and complete His Great Commission:

  • Proclaiming the truth of God’s Word by emphasizing the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the person and work of the Holy Spirit, and the imminent return of the Lord Jesus,
  • Evangelizing and discipling persons throughout the United States and around the world, incorporating them into Christ-centered, community-focused congregations, and mobilizing them in a missionary effort designed to plant Great Commission churches among both unreached and responsive peoples worldwide, and
  • Working collaboratively with other churches and organizations that share the mission and vision of The Christian and Missionary Alliance to extend Christ’s Kingdom.

The individual holding the above position must be an active participant in an evangelical Christian church, accept and live in accordance with the C&MA Statement of Faith, Policy on Alcohol and Marijuana Use, and the Statement on Sexuality and refrain from behavior which detracts from the Christian testimony of the C&MA.



  • Four-year college degree in a related field preferred
  • Professional certification specific to the position, if applicable


  • May be recognized as an expert in the area to which assigned, work of a highly specialized or technical nature requiring extensive exposure to this or a similar job to become familiar with numerous records and procedures, to make important decisions, and/or to project the effect of actions
  • Has training or exposure to the job in order to develop efficiency or to obtain some background of helpful precedents and principles
  • Requires 3–5 years of experience in a similar job to develop efficiency or to obtain some background of helpful precedents and principles
  • Prefer 2–4 years of experience in a related position within the C&MA


  • Does not require C&MA ordination, licensure, or certification


  • Requires solving complex problems or planning and developing programs and procedures
  • Possesses ability to utilize computerized software applications and operate various office equipment such as telephone, computer, printer, copier, fax, scanner, and calculator
  • Possesses a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Internet, Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, and other software as required


Specific Duties

  • Exhibits strong attention to detail, organization, and written/verbal skills with the ability to manage and prioritize dynamic projects in a collaborative and creative environment
  • Delegates and oversees tasks assigned to design team including follow-up and tracking of progress; keeps director apprised of progress, concerns, and completions
  • Manages print-buying decisions (totaling approximately $250,000 per year) for National Office through needs assessment, solicitation of bid proposals based on quantity, size, cost, timeframe, and type of printing (digital or offset) required.
  • Evaluates print bid proposals, determines appropriate vendor fit based on specific projects needs such as cost, timeframe, quantity, size, paper, bindery, and type of printing (digital or offset) required and assigns print jobs
  • Coordinates with the design team on basic graphic design and layout artwork as needed and prepares files for use in print, on the web and for video
  • Prepares accurate pre-press files for offset/digital printing according to industry standards; tracks print jobs to ensure timely delivery
  • In collaboration with event and design teams, formats & beautifies outbound presentation materials ahead of digital and in-person events to ensure consistency in brand and messaging; ability to perform light editing and proofreading
  • Performs basic industry research in support of brand and marketing content creation
  • Screens, prioritizes, and routes design and resource related requests and routes them appropriately
  • Completes appropriate request forms for scheduled mailings; obtains the appropriate data file, per instructions, for the printing of mailing labels
  • Initiates and maintains key relationships and a list of preferred vendors and creative freelancers including but not limited to printers, graphic designers, videographers, editor/writer/proofers, and web designers/programmers.
  • Maintains Branding and Visual Communications Project Calendar and coordinates deliverables for multiple-resource campaigns, such as Missions Emphasis, Great Commission Day, Year-End, and General Council utilizing project management and customer-relationship management (CRM) software to track design and video projects; works closely with the mailroom to arrange for timely and cost-effective distribution
  • Maintains proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software including Apple computers, desktop scanners, and proofing printers. Basic proficiency using Adobe Create Suite programs preferred but not required.
  • May be required to attend biennial General Council
  • Other duties as assigned

Administrative and customer service experience in a nonprofit, Christian organization
