Nyack College Alumna Victim of California Mudslide

Vanessa Bryson, a religion major at Nyack College from 1996 to 1999, was 1 of 10 fatalities caused by the La Conchita, California, mudslide that was triggered by several days of torrential rainfall. Her body was recovered on Tuesday, January 11.

Vanessa had been a resident of California for the past five years. According to Missiology and Religion professor Larry Poston, Vanessa was “in the process of packing her belongings to move to Seattle when the mudslide hit.” Professor Poston asks that the Nyack community, and the C&MA family, be in prayer for Vanessa’s parents and friends. Details on funeral arrangements are not yet available.
