Dakar Academy Outreach

Teachers and students presented the gospel through drama, music, and puppet shows in Kouta, a four-hour drive from the school. They also completed a variety of construction/remodeling projects at the local church.

One team of students made four banners to hang on the side walls of the church, while another team worked on painting a mural on the front wall. A third team painted the two church offices and the church front doors. A fourth team built 20 benches to go in the sanctuary. Another group was in charge of getting our sound system all set up for the evening evangelism campaigns. And the drama team traveled to out-lying villages presenting the gospel through mime, music, and puppets. We also took the African pastor around in a vehicle with a loud speaker from village to village to announce the evening campaigns.

On top of these projects, the students were able to present the local public school with brand new soccer goals and three special soccer balls with “Jesus loves you” in over 30 languages on them. The high school boys played a unique soccer game with the students of that school. They called it “Jockey Soccer,” and each high school guy had a small student from the school on his back as they played soccer!

Each evening, the group participated in prayer walks around different villages, and the people received them warmly. Village chiefs shared a variety of requests with the group. One chief lost his wife the day before the group arrived, and he was encouraged by the prayers offered by the teachers and students.
