Marguerite Sundberg, Retired Missionary, Dies

Marguerite H. Sundberg, retired missionary to the Philippines, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 14, 2006, in Spokane, Washington. She was 88 years old. Sundberg served as a missionary with The Christian and Missionary Alliance from 1947 to 1981.
At an early age Marguerite devoted her life to the work of the Lord, and during those formative years she attended the Alliance church in Millwood, Washington. She graduated from Simpson Bible Institute in 1941 and spent two years doing mission work in the hills of Kentucky. She then attended Mission Training Institute (Nyack) for one year and afterward served at the Hoyt Street Gospel Mission and the Scandinavian Mission in Brooklyn, New York. She was commissioned by The Christian and Missionary Alliance in 1946 and left the following year for missionary service in the Philippines.
Some of her work included village and tribal ministries, Bible teaching in public and private schools, guest home hostess, church visitation, womens’ rallies, Bible conferences and evangelistic outreach. Marguerite served in the Philippines until her retirement in 1981. She moved back to Spokane and continued serving the Lord at the Garland Avenue Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. She was a woman of faith who dedicated her life to the service of God.
Marguerite is survived by her sister, Norma Hein, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. A celebration of her life will take place on Monday, November 20, 2006, at 3 p.m. at the Garland Avenue Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Spokane, Washington. Rev. William L.
