Altoona Alliance Church in Pennsylvania was destroyed by fire Sunday, May 6. “It's totaled,” said Lakemont Fire Chief Tom Srai. “Just about the entire roof has been burned through except the sanctuary. His department is one of about a dozen that responded to the blaze.
The fire alarm, which sounded about 30 minutes after morning services had ended, alerted Pastor Tim McGarvey and a few people who remained behind to pray. They were able to leave the church safely, but everything in the church was lost in the blaze, including Pastor McGarvey’s library, his computer, and all of the church's records. The cause of the blaze has not been determined, but a state police fire marshall is expected to investigate the cause of the blaze today.
