Watts for LIFE Benefit Run

On May 19, three men will be running at elevations of 7,000 to 10,000 feet above sea level. It will be challenging, draining, and to be honest, not much fun. But the thrill of the run comes from the reason the men will be running—to help a group of teenagers from Watts, California, attend the C&MA’s LIFE 2007 youth conference in Orlando, Florida, in July.
Kent Julian, director for Alliance Youth, will join Jesse Taylor, youth pastor at Crossroads Bible Church in Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Todd Grant, church planter in Watts, to raise funds for Grant’s youth group at Powerhouse Church to attend LIFE 2007. The “lean, mean running machines,” as Julian calls his group, have spent the past few months training rigorously for the event. “Each step has prepared us to champion a cause in which we strongly believe!” he says.
The idea for the run came after Taylor’s youth group visited the Powerhouse teenagers on a missions trip. When the Crossroads group began planning its trip to LIFE, members decided to raise funds to include the Powerhouse teens as well. So far, $2,500 has been raised, but $4,500 is still needed to enable students from Watts to attend. “We really need your help,” says Julian.
