Twenty children prayed to receive Christ during an Alliance outreach in the Dominican Republic this month. “It was during a neighborhood ministry in a poor barrio of the least, lost, and left out,” said missionaries Brad and Dorothy Wood.
Elsewhere in Latin America, Steve and Claudia Irvin, missionaries to Argentia, have taken over the reins of a foundation that partners with existing Christian ministries that help the poor, particularly children. Recently, the Irvins ministered in the church in González Catán. “In this small church on the edge of poverty, Pastor Checho Ramírez leads a holistic ministry that includes a weekly soup kitchen for 60 children in the neighborhood,” said the Irvins. The youngsters also receive Bible lessons from a team of dedicated volunteers. “It was moving to be there and see and smell the open sewage just outside the church door! But in the sanctuary was the sweet aroma of God’s people praising the Lord.”
