A few years ago, 400 students attended Maranatha Alliance High School in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, run by the C&MA national church. This year, that number has increased to 1,000, according to Simeon Keita, the school’s director.
Three new classrooms were built this summer through gifts to Alliance missionary Mary Crowgey. Those classrooms are already full, with four students to a bench that should seat two.
Last year, more than 70 percent of the students were promoted to the next grade, with many passing the standardized government tests. “Less than 40 percent of the students are Christians, which translates into many opportunities to witness,” said Esther Schaeffer, a C&MA worker in Burkina.
“In the past year, 160 students accepted Christ as their Savior. Pray that this will be another year of seeing many of the students come to Christ. Also, pray for the director as plans are under way to open another Christian high school in the city.”
