Alliance Pastor Speaks Out about Tornado

image of the F3 tornado cell“We are alive and well at the Prattville Fountain of Grace Alliance Church,” said Pastor Tony Butler after an F3 tornado ripped through the Alabama town during the church’s missions conference. The featured speaker, Gino Benvunetto, an Alliance pastor from Lima, Peru, was preaching when Butler informed the congregation of the tornado warning. “At the time, the storm front was still a good distance away but approaching our area rapidly,” said Butler. The tornado struck the church during a memorial service later that afternoon. “I checked out our building and everything seemed fine except for some shingle loss,” Butler said. “Our church sign had been taken out by a basketball goal post that was propelled through the air by the tornado.”

Several subdivisions near the church “looked like a war zone,” said Butler. “There has been an awesome community effort to clean up the area. Our church and many others worked all day Saturday along with hundreds in the community. We are very thankful for God’s protection. Thanks for the prayers.”
