By Barry Jordan, serving in Indonesia
October 8 marked the 25th anniversary of Team Joshua, an Alliance youth outreach in Indonesia. The celebration began early on Friday morning in the city of Jayapura with a game of “futsal,” which is basically indoor soccer. Then, about 1,000 students from Jayapura attended a revival service, where Team Joshua’s founder, Ann Grinnell, preached.
Praise the Lord for the 500 students who came forward to meet with God, either for salvation or for other spiritual needs. We had them write their contact info on a sheet of paper. Please pray for follow -up of these students.
In the afternoon Ann and I went for a prayer walk around the city. We have been asking the Lord to show us the place He has for Team Joshua Jayapura; they’ve been without a suitable place for their services for a couple of years now. Pray for God’s guidance and wisdom in finding the right location.
That evening we had our anniversary service. About 600-700 Team Joshua members, old and new, attended. Lots of creativity culminated in Ann again sharing God’s Word. In the end she challenged us to look ahead to what God will do in the next 25 years. Rejoice with us for His grace seen so clearly through Team Joshua ministries.
October 9 was our Team Joshua reunion, where 300-400 “family” members attended our beach outing. No one went home dry, hungry, or with an ounce of energy left (at least us 50-somethings). Praise the Lord for the family of God. I cannot put into words the joy I feel being with my Team Joshua kids. Patty and I are truly blessed to be a part of Team Joshua.
