Paris Gospel Concert Draws Hundreds

At least 600 people attended a gospel concert hosted by Alliance national churches in the Paris suburb of Boulogne, November 13. “The response was so great,” says Alliance international worker Tim Meier, “we had to turn people away because there wasn’t room to receive them all!”

There are 10 Alliance national churches in the Paris area, seven of which participated directly through promotion and facilitation of the event. At least 50 young adults saturated Paris and surrounding suburbs with promotional flyers a week prior to the concert. “Obviously, it worked,” says Tim, who brought 16 people from his Catalyst ministry, an outreach to college-age adults. Madeesen, a Catalyst member and new believer, said, “Wow, we gave the flyers, we prayed, and I can’t believe that this is happening. God is really amazing!”

Alliance workers and national believers are greatly encouraged by the response of so many young people, including 150 who were not granted access due to legal capacity limits. “The feedback was so good that we had a hard time leaving people out on the street,” says Tim. “We spent an hour afterward praying for all of those who entered. This tells me that there is a hunger for God, and gospel music contains hope to which people are attracted even if they can’t verbalize why.”
