By Brad and Dorothy Jo Wood, serving in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic was affected by tropical storm Isaac (later upgraded to Hurricane Isaac), with flooding in the southern region that knocked out bridges and displaced thousands of people. Most bridges have reopened, and nearly everyone has returned home.
However, the western town of Salinas was inundated by flood waters. The salt processing factory was destroyed, putting many of our church members out of work indefinitely. Alliance friends are assisting with the purchase of basic food supplies for many families affected by Isaac’s destruction.
What You Can Do
Pray for all those who have been impacted by this disaster. Pray that the love and compassion shown to those in need will draw people to Jesus.
