By an Alliance worker serving in Senegal
Senegal is home to a least-reached people of approximately 5 million, among whom just 150 are believed to be Jesus followers. As illustrated in the following update, Alliance workers have found youth ministry to be an effective means to plant and water seeds of truth.
Last week I reported that our summer camp for the children of a least-reached population is one of the highlights of our ministry each year. Thanks for your prayers for this year’s Kids’ Camp!
We had a great time with the 70 campers, aged 10–14, who attended from three cities in northern Senegal. Along with playing games, making crafts, eating great food, and swimming in the Senegal River, they listened to stories about God’s love from Creation to Jesus’ sacrifice.
Several of the campers we knew were followers of Jesus; some were connected to a church. Most of the campers, though, had not yet committed their lives to Christ.
New Faith, Fear
During the week at least two children made first-time professions of faith. But also they were fearful to learn what might happen because of their new faith when they returned home.
Although there is a small fellowship of believers in their town, these children likely will not be allowed to attend meetings. Please pray for the seeds of the love, truth, and power of Jesus to grow in the hearts of all these young boys and girls.
