By a worker serving in Burkina Faso
A few weeks ago, I visited with a well-known family in our community that has attended my Bible study group. Five years ago, they abandoned the predominant religion to follow Christ.
Despite the efforts of leaders of the majority religion—who have tried every means to turn them back to their former faith, including offering them money—this family has stood strong. Shunned, ignored, rejected by relatives and friends, they have remained committed to Christ.
The Dream
During my recent visit with this family, the father told me about a dream in which he saw a man coming to visit him. He then heard the Spirit of Christ tell him not to listen to this man because he would speak lies.
The next day a stranger arrived at the Christian man’s home, explaining that he was from another African country and had accepted Christ as his Savior more than 25 years ago. The stranger went on to tell how he had gone to school and then pastored a church for many years.
“But I had no peace, and the more I studied Christianity, the more I realized it was not the truth,” he said.
“You May Leave!”
When the Christian man heard this, he immediately stood up and exclaimed: “You are the one who was in my dream. Sir, you are wasting your words and your time. I have loved Jesus, and I will continue to love Jesus. You may leave!”
I thought that this encounter was the end of this stranger in the community. But at our pastors’ wives meeting recently, I learned that he had spoken at the local house of worship for the predominant religion, condemning Christians and stirring up the crowd against them.
God is moving in Burkina Faso. Healings, demon deliverance, remarkable conversions, and other divine acts are revealing His power to save and redeem those who hunger for life-giving truth in this impoverished, spiritually dark land.
We also know the enemy is “a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44). He is determined to thwart the Kingdom’s advance. Please pray for the church here to have courage, wisdom, and strength to withstand persecution and continue to embody Christ’s love and share the truth of His salvation.
