The Perfect Card

By Charlotte Hisle, serving in Portugal

How far will God go to reveal Himself to us? We know He went to extreme lengths when He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for us, but I am amazed at His little daily revelations—powerful reminders that He is present in our lives, whether we acknowledge Him or not.

Recently, I had coffee with my neighbor Carmen. I’ve asked you to pray for her several times, because it seems like the Lord is always trying to get her attention. A philosophy professor, Carmen says she is an atheist yet asks very personal questions about Jesus and His life. This week we talked for nearly two hours about Him and how He is involved in our daily lives.

On our way home, we stopped at a store so Carmen could have some photos printed. Standing by the greeting cards, I pulled out the first one, which had a picture of a dog. Carmen said, “That is the perfect card for you.”

Then I pulled out the next card, and the only thing written on it was “I am the Way the Truth and the Life.” I said, “And this is the perfect card for you.” I can only describe the look on her face as awe. I’m pretty sure the same look was on my face, too. Pray that Carmen will hear what God is saying.
