Home for Christmas

By Sabelle Millimono

Sabelle attends EPI, a French-speaking church plant in Leguevin, France, led by Alliance international workers Brad and Tina Reynolds. Sabelle is excited to celebrate her first Christmas as a follower of Jesus.

I always loved Christmas, but it meant nothing more than a great day to give and receive gifts. Then about a year ago, I desperately sought a way to start a long-lasting relationship with God. Circumstances had robbed me of peace and fulfillment. Not even a successful career or my family could fill the void in my heart.

Raised in another religion, the only god I knew about was unappealing; I was not attracted to him. But conversations with friends who followed Jesus made me want to know more about Christianity.

A friend introduced me to EPI Church, and my husband came with me to a service. We decided to join the Alpha course that EPI was about to launch. Sunday after Sunday, Alpha session after session, God poured into our hearts in an incredible way, and we decided to put our trust in Jesus.

While I was trying to live my own way, I was unhappy, insecure, and restless. Now I have joy and hope for my future. I want to shine His light into the lives of those around me.

This Christmas, I will give my best to Jesus because of His gift to us. He chose to step into creation, become one of us, pay our penalty of death, and show us the way to live. I will celebrate His birth with thankfulness for all He has done and is still doing for me.

Jesus offered me compassion, love, and a new family. He made me come home to Him.
