Alliance Chaplain Honored

U.S. Army Chaplain Captain Robert W. Fry received the Witherspoon Award in recognition of his commitment to and encouragement of Bible reading among the troops. The award, given annually to one chaplain from each branch of the armed forces, is named for World War I and World War II chaplain Maurice Witherspoon, who served as a trustee of the National Bible Association from 1946 until 1978.

Alliance Chaplain Fry serves with the 5th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Ft. Riley, Kansas. Chaplain Fry also serves as senior pastor of the Morris Hill Chapel in Ft. Riley.

Chaplain Fry has spent 30 years in ministry, working as a youth pastor, camp counselor and director, and as an urban missionary, as well as in addiction recovery services.
