Two weeks ago, we were ready to load up our van for an eight-hour drive to go on vacation. Our plan was to leave early in the morning, but we discovered a major oil leak. My husband spent the morning we were to leave at a local car repair shop.
I was at home with our children when the doorbell rang. It was not the ideal time to have visitors! Frustrated, I answered the door. A North African–looking woman handed me a flyer for upcoming mayoral elections. I asked where she was from and was excited to hear it was a country where we had served previously as international workers.
The woman said that she lives in a house at the end of our long driveway. Since moving to this new neighborhood, I had been praying that the Father would lead me to a “woman of peace” who could connect me with the entire community. This woman was the one!
I asked her if there were other North Africans in the area. As she pointed at houses around us, she told me where the residents were from. I couldn’t believe my ears! The woman invited me to her home for mint tea when we returned from our trip.
Please pray that the Father will prepare the way for this friendship and that it would be the beginning of meeting an entire community of North Africans in our neighborhood.
