Several days after violent protests erupted in Burkina Faso, resulting in the resignation of its president, encouraging reports are emerging.
“It is an amazing country,” said Alice Brokopp, who serves with Envision and recently hosted a short-term team visiting the capital city, Ouagadougou.
“I remember when a flood displaced thousands and when the youth demonstrated for various reasons, Burkina Faso quickly bounced back to a sense of hopefulness and normalcy. This time seems no different.”
Civic Pride
Alice noted that photos of people cleaning Burkina Faso’s streets were included in a blog posted Sunday, November 1 (see Learn More, below). “The government pays women to sweep city streets, but it is encouraging to see youth and men joining them,” Alice said.
“It felt so good to drive around on quiet, clean streets with so many shops once again open,” another Alliance worker wrote on November 4. “There is a feeling of calm for now that I am sure going to appreciate!”

Pray
- “Keep praying that a man of God will be chosen as Burkina’s leader and that the new government put into place will be God’s choice,” Alice said. “Also, intercede on behalf of the postponed Love Burkina Faso Festival (an evangelistic campaign) Andrew Palau had planned to lead in mid-November; pray that the Lord will bring an even greater response to this event once it is rescheduled.”
- The prayers of God’s people strengthen Alliance personnel to live and serve across the globe. Using the weekly Alliance Prayer Requests, join our worldwide family in praying for our workers.
