Alliance international workers in Sarajevo, Bosnia Hercegovina, and Berlin, Germany, are joining forces to help restore an elementary school’s industrial arts classroom, which was destroyed in Bosnia’s historic flooding last spring.
When an Alliance worker from Bosnia visited colleagues in Berlin, where one of their popular outreaches is an art gallery, the idea for a school fund-raiser featuring Bosnian artists quickly developed.
At the Source community center in Sarajevo, an Alliance outreach, workers called on local artists to donate works that could be sold at the event. Through the Source’s annual film festival, as well as a Thanksgiving photography show, Alliance team members have nurtured relationships with many of the city’s artists, who were thrilled to be part of the project.
Twenty artists volunteered their works for the show. From the submissions, 15 pieces were sent to the gallery in Berlin.
The exhibit, Art for Renewal, began January 24 and runs through February 28. Pray that funds needed to replace the school’s industrial arts equipment will be raised and that opportunities to share the gospel will be plentiful.
