For the second year, Fairhaven (Alliance) Church in Dayton, Ohio, is offering to match up to $100,000 in financial gifts to support Bongolo Hospital in Gabon, West Africa. Funds raised will be used to better equip the surgery clinic and a learning center.
Since 1977, Bongolo Hospital has been a source of spiritual and physical healing for thousands of African people. Each year, more than 1,000 people place their trust in Jesus as a direct result of the hospital’s compassionate ministries.
To continue its vital mission of providing quality medical care, the hospital needs several critical upgrades. Fairhaven has come alongside Alliance international workers and national staff to provide the most up-to-date equipment and technology for the hospital.
“We thank Fairhaven for demonstrating that the Body of Christ bridges the ocean,” said Bongolo Hospital team leader Dr. Keir Thelander. “Fairhaven’s timely partnership has allowed the hospital to take the next step in the quality of medical care to demonstrate the love of Jesus in deed and word.”
The 150-bed hospital that began as a small clinic today treats 50,000 patients and performs 1,500 surgeries annually. Also, it is home to a Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) training program. African surgeons trained and discipled at Bongolo return to their home countries, where there is great physical and spiritual need.
