By Andy and Lora Brake, Alliance international workers who teach at Sekolah Tinggi Theologi (STT Jaffray), which means Higher School of Theology, in Makassar, Indonesia
As part of their graduation requirements, our students serve as interns, and some are members of our church. One of them, Anna, recently returned from her internship in Kalimantan. She gave a testimony in church about a Sunday school class that she led. She lived alone near the church, so often the Sunday school students spent time with her or played games.
One of those youngsters, Joy,* was from another religion. She not only visited Anna’s home but also attended Sunday school—which is uncommon in Indonesia.
One of the children was sick one week, so Anna and the other kids prayed for her healing. The Lord touched the child, and she recovered. This impressed Joy.
A week later, Joy was ill. Her parents wanted the local religious leader to visit her, but she refused. “I want Miss Anna to pray for me,” Joy said. After insisting that the religious leader come, the parents finally agreed to have Anna come to their home and pray for their daughter in Jesus’ name.
The girl was healed, and she has since given her life to Jesus. Please pray for her family and for many more like her who need to see Christ as sufficient for their physical and spiritual needs.
