The fourth annual Envision Summit will be May 8–12, 2017, in Queens, New York. In partnership with Envision Canada, the five-day leadership summit will focus on equipping and building up young leaders ages 24–35.
Speakers will include a variety of voices from both inside and outside The Alliance. Morning sessions taught by Rob Reimer (Nyack/Alliance Theological Seminary) will focus on soul care. Rich Villodas from New Life Church will speak on racial reconciliation. Debra Hirsch, author of Redeeming Sexuality, will talk about sexuality and spirituality. John Stumbo, U.S. C&MA president, will speak one evening, and for the final session, Melissa MacDonald, the C&MA’s children’s disciplemaking consultant, will talk about pathways to leadership.
The Summit will be a prime opportunity to “tend to our souls,” says President Stumbo, “to listen to what the Spirit of God is saying,” and to walk in step with what the Spirit wants to do in our lives. He says it’s also a unique opportunity to “strengthen your ministry impact” by leaning in to difficult conversations surrounding race, reconciliation, and sexuality so that you can better articulate the gospel.
The Summit is a rare opportunity to engage with other like-minded young leaders within The Alliance. “It’s easy to feel isolated as a young leader and not know there are many others within the Alliance family who share your same passion and eagerness to engage, grow, and innovate,” says Tim Meier, director for Envision. “This Summit is an opportunity to gather together as we seek to join God on mission in the world.”
