Cuba
Cuba suffered significant damage from Irma. The president of the Alliance in Cuba reports that churches in the north and the center of the island are without communication. He expresses concern over the well-being of these and other congregations and asks the greater Alliance family to pray.
Florida
Irma is regaining strength after pummeling Cuba as it moves toward Florida and is expected to make landfall early Sunday. Because of the breadth and force of the storm, the entire state and surrounding coastal areas are at risk. If the storm continues on its current course, at particular risk within the Alliance family are churches and congregations along Florida’s southern Gulf Coast, along with Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers. Shell Point has an extensive evacuation and sheltering plan for its 2,400 residents, but can suffer devastating property damage if the storm makes landfall in the area. Please pray.
Texas
Meanwhile, cleanup and rebuilding efforts are under way in Houston in the aftermath of Harvey. The Southwestern District is asking for immediate volunteers to help those whose homes and lives have been ravaged. Watch this district video for more information, and visit the CAMA Services Website if you’d like to volunteer.
