By a CAMA couple serving in Vietnam
We have diligently served in the name of Jesus in this area of Vietnam for more than 17 years. We’ve varied our projects over the years to meet the needs of local people and are now focused only on supporting preschools and assisting orphans.
Therefore, it was surprising—and encouraging—to hear the advice of one local official to an orphan in our program. The child’s grandmother, who was his sole caregiver, had just passed away. While we were comforting this youngster, a local official interjected. He told the orphan to remember and appreciate CAMA; he let the child know how CAMA has been such a great help to him and the community.
The official then proceeded to list all the ways CAMA has assisted the community over the years through water wells, health clinics, and providing preschool classrooms. Those were projects that CAMA has not been involved with for more than 10 years.
We don’t think about those programs anymore, but this official does; more surprisingly, this young official did not work with CAMA at the time we implemented those projects—yet he knows about them and is now teaching this orphan to also remember. This community will always remember how much CAMA loves them in the name of Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58, ESV).
