Flash flooding started June 20 between 4–7 a.m. in what is known as the mid-valley of the Rio Grande Valley in the southern tip of Texas. Members of the Rio Life Community Church (Mercedes, Texas) live around this area, and while the church building was not affected, some of the church families’ homes and vehicles flooded.
Pastor David Gomez is grateful that no one was physically hurt and to see the body of Christ mobilize through social media—both for itself and to help neighbors.
Please pray for the community as many of the poorer families in the area were the most affected. And pray for the church family as they recover from the effects of this flooding.
The Spanish Central District office in McAllen, Texas, has been flooded since yesterday. The water level rose three feet since the rain started. The staff lost most of the paperwork for their upcoming district conference.
Pray also for the Mid-Atlantic District office in Frederick, Maryland, as the entire lower-level flooded.
The office contacted a trusted flood restoration company immediately, but all the carpeting, padding, tile, and some drywall had to be removed. The lower-level will be unusable for a few weeks while the repairs take place.
