Four years ago, my husband, Ed, and I began praying for a local Thai high school during our prayer walks. A door opened in December for our church to host a Christmas outreach there. During the event, we told the 850 students they were welcome to stop by the church if they wanted to know more about Jesus.
One Saturday, Nok, an eighth grader from the school, visited the church. She had connected with a school mate, Manao—a believer who attends our congregation. Nok wanted to take singing lessons, which we teach on Saturdays.
Bale, one of our main worship leaders, taught Nok the basics. We then began worship practice and invited Nok to learn some songs. After I left, Bale and Manao shared their faith with Nok. She said she first heard about Jesus two years ago when a short-term team from Glenview Alliance Church (Glenrock, Pa.) held an English outreach at her elementary school. She was interested in Christianity then but didn’t know how to find out more. Nok was now ready to receive Christ.
The next morning, she attended her first Sunday school and worship service. Everyone welcomed her warmly and prayed over her. After my first discipleship study with Nok, Manao took over the teaching. They meet after school—right on campus—to study the basics of the Christian faith. Pray for Nok to grow strong in Christ.
