Today in our world there about 4 billion oral learners—people who can’t, don’t, or won’t take in new information or communicate by literate means. That’s two-thirds of the world’s population. Yet an estimated 90 percent of Christian workers present the gospel and discipleship teaching in literate forms.
Crown College President announces next year will be his last

After serving Crown for 12 years, Dr. Rick Mann has decided not to seek another term as the College’s president, noting that his wife’s health played a role in his decision. With his current term expiring after the next academic year, Dr. Mann will leave Crown College on June 30, 2013.

The Alliance Celebrates 125 Years of Ministry

In 1887, the Alliance movement began when A. B. Simpson left a lucrative pastorate to minister to the marginalized populations in New York City. Prostitutes, longshoremen, and the homeless received the message that all people are eligible for Christ’s grace. Simpson established the New York Gospel Tabernacle to bring likeminded believers together to facilitate outreach. His exposure to New York City’s displaced immigrant peoples birthed in him a deep burden to reach the lost multitudes around the world. To that end, he started the Missionary Training Institute (now Nyack [New York] College) to equip men and women whom God was calling to ministry.
Alliance Worker Dr. David Thompson Featured on 700 Club

Alliance international worker Dr. David Thompson, a general surgeon who serves at Bongolo Hospital in Gabon, Central Africa, will appear live on CBN’s 700 Club, February 27, 2012, 9 a.m. EST. Dr. Thompson will address his 35 years of service at the hospital and God’s mighty hand upon this ministry. Also, he will discuss the development of PAACS (Pan African Association of Christian Surgeons), a widely recognized training institute for African surgeons that Thompson founded in 1997.

The Alliance Development Fund Writes Rebate Checks Totaling $300,000

In spite of challenging financial times, The Alliance Development Fund (ADF) realized strong enough returns on the investments of capital and reserve funds to send rebate checks totaling $300,000 to churches with ADF loans. The Board of Directors suggested the rebate while taking measures to keep ADF’s finances strong for investors and future church projects and demonstrating ADF’s deep desire to serve the churches of The Christian and Missionary Alliance.
The Alliance Celebrates 100 Years of Great Commission Ministries in Vietnam

The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA)–related Evangelical Church of Vietnam (also known as Tin Lanh) had its largest-ever gathering to celebrate 100 years of ministry, June 14-16, 2011. Held in Da Nang’s large indoor stadium, the event drew an estimated 15,000 people, with an overflow of about 1,000 in the outer halls.
