Pastor for English Ministry - Wheaton, IL Wheaton Chinese Alliance Church (WCAC) is a loving, evangelical, Christ-centered church located in the western suburbs of Chicago. Our church consists of about three hundred members, including not only first-generation immigrants from Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, and Southeast Asia, but also those of many other cultural backgrounds. We have significant numbers in all generations from newborns to students to millennials to boomers to seniors. We have three separate worship services of about 120 each in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. More than twenty small groups and fellowships meet regularly in the Wheaton and Naperville area. We also have a youth ministry of about sixty that promotes spiritual growth and outreach among teenagers. Our English language ministry covers a spectrum of ages from pre-teen to seniors. Our members come from diverse nationalities and cultures. Due to our proximity to Wheaton College we have a large number of actively involved undergraduate and graduate students. We also have a number of small groups and fellowship groups that include young adults, young couples, families with school-aged children, and empty nesters. Members of the English ministry are actively involved in church leadership, and many are multi-lingual. Wheaton Chinese Alliance Church (WCAC) is searching for a full-time English Pastor to serve alongside the Senior Pastor, other pastors and the Board of Elders, to lead and guide our English ministry in fulfilling its vision and mission, and to preach, teach and do pastoral care. Some distinctive responsibilities of our English Pastor are the following: Work with ministry leaders to discern God’s will and set forth the vision for the WCAC English ministry. Then, formulate plans and lead the English ministry to carry out the plans (1 Peter 5:1-3). Lead and mentor English ministry leaders. Equip and empower church members for ministries by teaching, discovering, developing and deploying their spiritual gifts (Ephesians 4:11-13). Collaborate closely with the Youth Pastor and Pastoral Assistant for College and Young Adult Ministry. The basic qualifications for this position include the following: Be an ordained Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA) minister, or be able to be ordained as a C&MA minister and satisfy the qualifications of the C&MA for pastors ( Believe the Bible to be God’s Word and affirm the C&MA Statement of Faith ( Have a Master of Divinity or equivalent. Must be called by God to Christian ministry and exemplify a godly character by leading a God-honoring life. Excellent preaching/teaching based on insightful understanding of Scripture. Gifted to equip, teach and edify the church and able to motivate and nurture teams to serve the church’s various ministries. Proven ability to develop other leaders, to delegate and build teams. Have previous experience in preaching, teaching, and pastoral care. Have the ability to work in a multi-cultural setting. Applicants should provide the following materials.
